The Snow Leopard Peaks:

Within the borders of the old Soviet Union ( USSR ), there are five mountains over 7000 metres - all located in Central Asia. Climbing all 5 achieves the title "Snow Leopard" - an indication of a top rank climber. Completing the Snow Leopard peaks is a major objective for many Russian alpinists .

The five Snow Leopard Peaks are:-


  • Pik Kommunizma ( 7495 m ) Tajikistan
  • Pik Pobedy  ( 7345 m ) China / Kyrgyzstan
  • Pik Lenin ( 7134 m ) Tajikistan / Kyrgyzstan
  • Pik Korzhenevsky ( 7105 m ) Tajikistan
  • Khan Tengri ( 6995 m ) Kazakhstan / Kyrgyzstan
