ascent route
one of the most easily climbed of the 4,000m Alps. The starting point for the ascent is either from the adjacent Klein Matterhorn ( 3820m ) which is reached by cable car from Zermatt or from the nearby Theodule Hut. The Theodule is a high mountain pass across the eastern Pennine Alps connecting Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais and Breuil-Cervinia in the Italian region of Aosta Valley. |
