Monemvasia off Outer Mani in the Peloponnese Monemvasia is on a small peninsula off the east coast of the Mani Peninsula.  It is linked to the mainland by a 200m causeway . Monemvasia was the site of a powerful medieval fortress  - the town walls and Byzantine churches remain from the mediaeval period.
