paddle-steamer Waverley
crossing from Rothesay on the Island of Bute in the Firth of Clyde Rothesay is the only town on Bute. The main ferry sevice to the island is from Wemyss Bay on the Ayrshire Coast of the mainland of Scotland. There is also a ferry service across the Kyles of Bute to Colintraive on the Cowal Peninsula. Bute is a popular destination with holidaymakers, tourists and day-trippers from Glasgow. The western side of Bute is known for its beaches giving fine views over the Sound of Bute towards Arran |
