The Church on the Hill ( Langside Hill Church )

at Battlefield

Langside Hill Church was completed

for the Free Church of Scotland in 1896.
It was the last Classical church
to be built in Glasgow.
The architect was Alexander Skirving

- a former assistant to Alexander "Greek" Thomson.

The church closed in 1979 and
the refurbished building opened in the 1990s
as a pub and restaurant.
The original church's stained glass windows
are still in place.

Built as a transport shelter
and converted into a restaurant
in the early 1990s.
The exterior is tiled in the
Glasgow Corporation Transport colours
of green and cream.

Langside Library at Battlefield

This was the final Carnegie library of Glasgow
completed after the outbreak of the Great War.
The architect was George Simpson.
The single storey building features
the City of Glasgow coat of arms
above the central entrance.
