Hue is
the capital
city of Hue Province
in Central Vietnam
on the banks
of the Sông Huong
( Perfume ) River
a few miles inland from the South China Sea.
Formerly
Hue was the imperial capital of the Nguyan Dynasty
and is well known
for its monuments and architecture.
On the north side of the river is
the Citadel,
an imperial city, the centre of the historic city
and
Hue's most outstanding attraction
and also the tombs of the emperor.
The south side of the river is newer
and contains most of the city's
business and residential areas.
The city is one of the most popular
places
for tourists in Vietnam
and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
