The
Weisshorn is a 3-ridged pyramid
and is one of the most
beautiful peaks of the European Alps.
The
normal route ( PD+ ) is via the East Ridge
and is physically and
technically demanding, with a tricky and exposed rock ridge.
The
Weisshorn summit ridge is a snow / ice slope up to 45 degrees.
The vertical gain to the summit from the Weisshorn Hut is 1600 metres.
The ascent requires 2 or 3 days from Zermatt
/
Tasch.
Because of the difficulties and the
long
distance to the summit
the Weisshorn is less frequently
attempted than other 4000
metre peaks.
