Kyrgyzstan
( Kyrgyz Republic ) is a landlocked
 and mountainous country in 
Central Asia.

 It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north,
 Uzbekistan to the west,

Tajikistan to the southwest
and China to the east.

"Lord of the Spirits" / "Lord of the Sky" / "Ruler of Skies"

Khan Tengri is the second-highest mountain
 in the Tian Shan.

Khan Tengri is one of the " Snow Leopard Peaks "

The Terskey Alatau / Terskey Ala-Too
is a 
mountain range in the Tian Shan mountains.

The length of the range is 354 km
 and the highest peak is 
Karakol Peak ( 5,216m ).

Another high peak is Boris Yeltsin Peak ( 5,168m )
 -
previously named Oguz Bashi.

The Snow Leopard Peaks:-


Within the borders of the old Soviet Union ( USSR ), there are five mountains over 7000 metres - they are all located in Central Asia. For climbing all five the title " Snow Leopard " is gained - an indication of being a top ranked climberThe completion of the Snow Leopard peaks is a major objective for many Russian mountaineers.

The five Snow Leopard Peaks are:-


  • Pik Kommunizma ( 7495m ) Tajikistan
  • Pik Pobedy  ( 7345m ) China/Kyrgyzstan
  • Pik Lenin ( 7134m ) Tajikistan/Kyrgyzstan
  • Pik Korzhenevsky ( 7105m ) Tajikistan
  • Khan Tengri ( 6995m ) Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan
