BEINN NARNAIN - ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
Who could resist a range of hills known as the Arrochar Alps?
Beinn Narnain is one of the highest peaks here and is easily bagged from Loch Long.
Feeling fit? Add neighbouring Beinn Ime, another Munro, to your itinerary.
START/FINISH: Car park at the head of Loch Long, just west of Arrochar ( grid ref NN 294049 ).
DISTANCE: 12km /7.5 miles.
TOTAL ASCENT: 926m.
MAP: Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 Landranger sheet 56; Harvey's Arrochar Alps.
ROUTE:
Follow the path and track up through the forest to the weir on Allt a'Bhalachain and continue up the path, passing Narnain Boulders, to Bealach a'Mhaim.
A path climbs from here on to Ben Narnain.
Return to Bealach and add Beinn Ime and the Cobbler to your day's peaks if you're feeling fit, before descending to Arrochar.
OTHER WALKS IN THE AREA:
The Cobbler is one of Scotland's most spectacular hills.
It's not a Munro but you need a real head for heights to reach the summit.
Alternatively, try one of the trails in Ardgarten Forest.
