Rim Rock Drive is a scenic road in Colorado National Monument. The 23-mile drive follows the upper rim of a series of canyons, extending from near Fruita in the west to near Grand Junction in the east. The connecting points are only eight miles apart in a straight line. |

The city is located along the Colorado River where it is joined by the Gunnison River. The name "Grand" refers to the historical name for the upper Colorado River while the word "Junction" is from the joining of the Colorado and Gunnison rivers. Hence Grand Junction is known as "River City". |
